Picking colors for your kitchen starts with choosing the two main colors. Choosing simple colors will be a lot more versatile, should you choose to change things up a bit at some point. Next, there’s a third color. This color brings the whole room together and gives it a bit of personality, mostly for accents. Black and white color schemes are considered “modern”, while a lot of the neutral color schemes fall into the “country” category. Looking at examples can be quite helpful for this step.
Countertops
Once you’ve got some colors in mind, it’s time to pick out some countertops. You want to do this first because counters come in such a wide variety of colors, patterns, and materials. There are a lot of options to be considered. Picking counters first also allows you to be able to match paints, stains, hardware, and special finishes a lot easier. Keeping a picture of your chosen countertops with you as you continue shopping for other kitchen components can also be helpful.
Cabinets
There are many different cabinet styles to choose from, ranging from traditional to contemporary. There are a lot of variables to consider when choosing your cabinet doors. What sort of hardware do you want? Do you want any hardware at all? Glass front? Frosted glass or transparent? Do you want to paint or stain them? What sort of finish do you want? These and more are questions to be considered. Possibly the most important question: What is your budget? Start narrowing your options there. If you’re at a showroom, tell the sales person your budget and they will be happy to show you your options.
